Standards Conversions
Video signals can be recorded
in many different standards even though the basic tape shell (VHS,
8mm, VHS-C, Etc.) or DVD is the same. What this means is that a DVD
or videotape from a foreign country will not play in American VCRs
and DVD players. Standards conversion is a complicated process using
specialized equipment to convert the tape or DVD to an American
video standard.
